I have been browsing and purchasing things from Etsy for over ten years now! My first 2 purchases were vintage Polaroid cameras that I still have and love. I continue to purchase unique gifts and items I love from Etsy today.

With Valentine's Day coming, can we talk about a different kind of love? Sometimes you have something that you are loving so much that you just have to share what it is with everyone. The funny thing is that right now the 4 of us each have a thing like that, so we thought we would share our current favorite four things with you right now.

Did you realize that February 12th is known as Lost Penny Day? Neither did I, but when I heard about it, it brought some things to mind.
Pennies have been around since 1787, and while they don't have much value now, a bunch of them together can add up!
There is a trend out there to do away with cash and change. That makes me kind of sad. What will become of the joy of piggy banks? Pulling coins out of my purse and handing them to my grandkids for their banks is always so much fun for them and for me. What will the Tooth Fairy put under pillows in exchange for lost teeth? How will gumballs come out of a gumball machine? I have many memories associated with pennies and other coins.
So, I'm glad that there is a penny day. And to celebrate it, I have a game that I learned long ago from my friend Elizabeth. It is based on the book, The Hundred Penny Box by Sharon Bell Mathis. It is the story of a little boy whose great-great aunt is 100 years old. She has a box that contains a penny from each year of her life. Although her memory fades in her old age, the memories in the box mean a lot to her and to her young nephew.
Here is how the game goes:
The Penny Game would be great to play for many occasions! Here are my ideas:

Sorry all of you snowed in people, but this is the time of year that we're glad to live in the desert. Alicia and her family were here for a little less than a week and she helped me do some gardening. We took a trip to Dollar Tree and while looking for things for the garden, we found something to keep the kids entertained out in the nice weather! Dollar Tree has adorable Fairy Garden figures in many styles. I let my granddaughter pick out some of the pieces. At $1.25 a piece it was a real bargain! Another nice thing is that many of the packages have multiple figures. Here are some link to some of the choices: When we brought the figures home, My granddaughter found the stump that she wanted to use to make her fairy garden on. I also scavenged my craft supplies and found her some odds and ends to embellish her fairyland with. Her brother joined in the fun as well. They gathered rocks from the yard and grass to spruce things up. Their creations turned out so cute! I picked out our fairy pieces in the store, but you can order the entire set of your choice from Dollar Tree online as well. As far as I can tell, the price online is still $1 per piece instead of the store price of $1.25! If you have them shipped to the store, you can get free shipping! These little fairy pieces will be a great way to entertain kids in the backyard while the weather is springlike! More fun posts about entertaining kids:
