For those of you who have just joined us here at 3 Winks Design, you may not realize that the reason we started this blog is because of this little creation of ours called Hot Cocoa Bombs! They are the most delicious and excitingly fun way to drink Hot Cocoa! This is the time of year when I get in full Hot Cocoa Bomb mode, making them like crazy for an annual craft show. The craft show has changed this year, but we are still doing one and I have been busy making them again. It never gets old because:
So, for Friday Faves #80 today, I thought I would do a throwback to some of our favorite Hot Coca Bomb posts and ideas! You will notice how our blog has evolved over these past 4 years as well!
If you want to make your own Hot Cocoa Bombs, you can go to the above mentioned tutorial and video. We have also published a Hot Cocoa Bomb Book that will help you with how to make them, the flavors and ways to decorate them!

It's Lindsey here with this weeks Friday Faves! I'm here with a topic I think a lot of us think about, and often want a little extra guidance on. Whether we're a stay at home mom looking for some ways to boost the family income, or single and want more fun money, or we just want to pay off that bill! A little side income can go a long way! So I asked around on Facebook a few weeks ago for ways people use to make some extra cash, and I'm listing their best answers here! Are you ready? Babysitting Side hustle number one is babysitting! I'm sure we all have a friend or family member in need of someone to watch their little one, or little ones while they are at work, or at some other engagement where babies or kids would not be appropriate. I am blessed that I don't have to put my little angel in day care. My mom watches her while I am at work. Not everyone has that luxury, but if you can offer your home as a safe environment for someone's kid to spend the day while they're at work then why not make a little extra cash off of it? Babysitting is great because you can decide how many hours a week you are willing to do it, so it is totally flexible with your schedule. Bonus points if the kids are the same age as yours! It's like a play date every day! Substitute Teaching My mom has talked about this one before. She did a lot of substitute teaching while she was raising us kids. Check the requirements for your state, but most require at least a bachelor's degree and a background check (you'll have to get fingerprinted.) My mom even got to the point where she would only take jobs from one school. She was able to build relationships with the teachers, staff, and students there. Then it wasn't a gamble what she was going to get every time she walked into a class. However you decide to do it, you can determine how many days a week you want to sub and make a pretty decent income off of it! Online Surveys This is another popular one, but it might take more time to build up some decent cash. Online surveys have been around for a while now. If you search in your Google Play Store or Apple Store you can even find apps to download that will bring you different surveys to do. Some of the options shared were Google Opinion Surveys, Mechanical Turk (Which is an Aamzon site for data entry and opinion surveys), AmeriSpeaks surveys, and go branded surveys. Surveys are great because, unlike babysitting or substitute teaching, you can do it for just a few minutes at a time throughout your day. Baby is napping? Take 15 minutes and do a few surveys before you hit that pile of laundry! Waiting at the dentist? Get a survey done before you get your teeth cleaned! Transcription Services Transcription is something that has been around for quite a while. There is medical and legal transcription. There are some places that require you to undergo some training and others that don't. This is another great work from home option that you can do during naptime, or for a few hours once the kids are in bed or early in the morning before they get up! Online Content Creation This one has a world of possibilities. You can create your own blog where you market your own product or service. You can sell things on Etsy or any other online store. You can also be a content creator for other websites. You can do the dirty work of searching websites like Indeed.com for job postings for content creators, or you can sign up with a company like writers.work and let them do all of that work for you. So if you like to write and create this is a great option for you. Additional bonus, with blogging you can also be partnered with affiliate who will give you a bump every time one of your readers purchases a product or service from them! That is getting income while you sleep! Teaching a Skill This is one I have used many times throughout my life. I have played the piano since I was a young girl and I have taken on piano students at different times throughout my life to earn some extra money! Another person on Facebook talked about the sewing classes she teaches (she has a great classroom now where her students can come learn on individual machines!) Whatever your skill is, you can share it with others and make a little extra money for yourself! Like babysitting and substitute teaching you can set your own schedule. You can also set your own price. Bonus, you can do it at your house, so you don't have to rush to make it to work on time! Teaching English Online This is becoming an ever popular field, and it is the one I am the most excited about sharing with you! There are a lot of programs out there that let you teach ESL, but I happen to work with one of them, which was listed as Forbes #1 work from home job company, VIPKID!! I have officially been teaching with VIPKID for 41 days, and I am about to receive my first paycheck from it! It has been a huge blessing for me and my family. I made this video to tell you all about it! I hope that video, 1) answered all of your questions and 2) got you excited about teaching with VIPKID! Please email us if you have any questions! I want to help you get signed up! So that is our list. This is going to be a working list and we'll add more to it as we hear about more useful tips! So, what are you waiting for? Get that hustle going!!

That's right! Today is Frankenstein Friday, and Monday is National Frankenstein Day! Isn't it amazing that this very strange story written by Mary Shelley two centuries ago, in 1818, has retained so much popularity and has so many versions of the story made? I wonder if she ever suspected it would become such a classic horror story. Did you know that Thomas Edison made the first film version of it in 1910?
Most people are more familiar with the 1930's Boris Karloff version, which is really nothing like the book. That would be a great book to discuss on a From Cover to Reel podcast! (Don't miss the episode that covers Roald Dahl's Witches on there now!)
Around our house, if we are given the choice of which version of the Frankenstein Movies to watch, we would probably all choose Young Frankenstein. (We aren't really purists in this case! We love to laugh!)
So, today, in honor or Frankenstein Friday and National Frankenstein Day, we are asking this Friday Faves question:
What is your favorite line from Young Frankenstein?
#2: "Yes! He was my BOYFRIEND!" Cloris Leachman. And who can forget her classic, "Ovaltine?"
#3: "There wolf, there castle." Ha ha Ha Ha #4: And this is my favorite, "You take the blond, I'll take the one in the turban!"
If you have no idea what we are talking about with these movie lines, then you definitely need to go watch Young Frankenstein this Halloween, or sooner! National Frankenstein Day is a great reason! Or, if hearing these lines is making you crack up, go watch it again. And don't forget to go to the comments and tell us what some of your favorite lines from the movie are!
If you are really into Frankenstein, here are a couple more versions you may want to check out.

Oh My Goodness! You Guys! We have been having the BEST rain here in Phoenix because of Hurricane Rosa and the weather feels amazing! It actually feels like we might get to have Fall! AND, this weather is just in time for Frugal Fun Day, which is tomorrow, October 6th. So, for Friday Faves we are asking:
What do you love to do for fun on the cheap?
At Home:
1. For a nice romantic choice, Letters to Juliet looks so good! You can rent it for 1.99 or purchase it for 7.99! I think I am going to talk my husband into this one for us to watch together.
2. If you have kids who love horses, The Silver Brumby stood out to me as reminiscent of The Man from Snowy River. You can rent it for 1.99 and buy it for 3.99. We just rewatched The Man from Snowy River on Netflix for free. 3. When Maddy and I were in Disneyland last Spring, we saw some Pixar movie shorts in the theater in California Adventures. One that was super cute and perfect for younger children was called Piper. This cute film about a baby bird learning to provide for himself is now on Prime for just 2.99.
Now, let's do some things that get us out of the house!
Besides roasting marshmallows and making s'mores, you might enjoy making and using Stuff 'em Sticks, something that we told you about here.
Frugal Fun in the Phoenix Area
Phoenix, where the weather is sometimes hot but never snowy, lends itself to many activities for everyone that are pretty inexpensive! *In the hot weather there are many pools available in the city parks, as well as splash pads and there are Water Parks available as well. Pioneer Park and Rio Vista Park's water pads are two that we have been to and they are both fun and free! *There are lakes in the city that are stocked for Urban Fishing. Kids under 14 can fish for free, just the parent needs a fishing license. One day a year there is a free day when you don't need a license at all and some parks offer fishing instruction. *The libraries offer nice places to relax from the heat and they offer story times and other activities. Phoenix libraries also offer passes on a first come first served basis that will get you into city attractions like the zoos (We have 2), botanical gardens and museums. *If you aren't able to get a pass to the Phoenix Art Museum, you can attend on Weds from 3:00-9:00 pm, On First Friday (discussed farther down), or second Sundays when prices are reduced to a voluntary donation. *There are two super fun and free factory tours that are popular in Phoenix, for all ages! The Stuffington Bear Factory teaches the history of teddy bears and those who attend the tour can even purchase and stuff their own bear. And, Cerreta Candy Company takes you on a chocolate tour and demonstration and ends with an opportunity to make and purchase a chocolate pizza! *There are tons of trails in all of the desert mountains, such as the White Tanks, South Mountain, North Mountain, Thunderbird Park, Camelback Mountain. Phoenix and the surrounding areas are a hikers paradise. Just remember to always carry water! *In the Spring, there are multiple teams who come to Phoenix for Spring Training at the various sports complexes! That is a great time to take part in the Great American Pass Time at a reasonable price! It is called the Cactus League. Here is the link to find the teams, stadiums and schedules of the games. Bookmark it because the 2019 schedule isn't up yet. *The Arizona State Capitol Building Museum is an amazing and FREE place to visit. One of the most fascinating things within its walls is the exhibit of artifacts from the USS Arizona. *First Fridays in downtown Phoenix is one of the nation's largest self-guided art walks. There is also a complimentary trolley tour to the various hubs. There is music playing and there are food trucks! I know that my young adult children have enjoyed this event at various times.
Wow! The more I write, the more I realize how much Phoenix has to offer! So, if you come to visit, bookmark this list to get you started! It is funny how when you live in a place you forget about the hidden gems that are there. I have been to most of these places, but it has been years for some of them. I told my husband that we need to start going back and revisiting some of these. HEY FAMILY! Come and visit! I have a list of places to take you!
For a nice list of frugal Fall fun, you can print off this bucket list we made last year! I hope it gets your own ideas flowing! Be sure to comment and let us know what your idea of frugal fun is.
Thinking of starting a blog of your own? We recommend Weebly! They are now teamed up with Square and really going places!
